The CMO Institute created the prestigious CMO of the Year award to recognize Chief Marketing Officers, or executives in an equivalent position, who demonstrated outstanding leadership across specific disciplines within the marketing field during the prior year. Highly regarded as the nation’s premiere marketing executive award, this trophy is granted to two Chief Marketing Officers within the 250 million dollar revenue level and 250 million dollar and below revenue level. This year holds special attention to the jewelry industry since there has never been a CMO within the jewelry business that has been nominated into this status.

“I am honored to have been selected into this noteworthy group. Beyond the honor of being nominated, I hope to assist in raising awareness for significant and impactful marketing that our industry produces. Be it local or international, digital or POS; some of the fine jewelry industry’s marketing is stellar and should be recognized as such,” commented Dan Scott, CMO of Scott Kay.

Nominees were evaluated across several categories of performance, including: market orientation and customer intimacy, accountability for results, commitment to innovation, and overall contribution to the success of their company. Based on these measures, Dan Scott of Scott Kay has been named one of five finalists in the mid-size organization category. He is joined by:

Susan A. Elder – Chief Marketing Officer, American Red Cross Wesley Bolsen – Chief Marketing Officer, Coskata, Inc. David Rowe – SVP of Global Marketing Alliances, Rimini Street, Inc. Teri Lucie Thompson – Chief Marketing Officer, Purdue University
