Exceptional diamonds and gemstones at the Dorotheum Auction on 20th October 2016. Celebrating 309 years since its foundation in Vienna by Emperor Joseph I in 1707, Dorotheum is today the largest auction house in German-speaking Europe as well as a leader in central Europe and one of the oldest and largest auction houses in the world.
Fancy Intense, Natural Colour – these are the characteristic of a 2,79 ct. yellowish orange diamond, set into a ring by Bulgari. It is just one of three Bulgari lots to be presented at the upcoming Dorotheum jewellery auction on 20th October 2016 along with a wide selection of other high-carat pieces. The estimate for this ring and its diamond of exceptional colouration ranges from 70,000 to 100,000 Euro.
Another ring, a so-called Toi-et-Moi ring set with two brilliants (3,38 ct. and 2,35 ct.) is one of the other jewellery pieces by the same prestigious Italian maker: Dorotheum expects it to realise 30,000 to 45,000 Euro.
The highest estimate of the auction pertains to a diamond tear pendant, weighing 5,44 ct. The high quality White+ (D) stone with only the tiniest of inclusions (VVS1) raises expectations of a sales price of 130,000 to 200,000 Euro.
Rich diversity of colour
Set with a total of 57 ct. of rubies, a brilliant (total weight ca. 15 ct.) bracelet (estimate € 55,000 - 75,000) comes with fitting necklace of ca. 45 ct. of rubies and 22 ct. of brilliants (€ 45,000 – 65,000) as well as pendant ear clips set with ca. 20 ct. of rubies and 10,40 ct. in brilliants (€ 28,000 – 38,000).
A pair of ear pendants each set with an emerald (total weight ca. 17 ct.) and brilliants, total weight ca. 7 ct., has been valued at 30,000 to 50,000 Euro, while another pair of ear pendants set with untreated sapphires weighing ca. 16 ct. and 2,50 ct. in old-cut diamonds, dates to the first third of the 20th century. (€ 24,000 – 36,000).
Overall, the auction will feature 200 items of jewellery, from the 19th century to the present, including many made by such renowned jewellers as Buccellati, Bulgari, Gucci, Massoni, Moroni, Pomellato, Tiffany & Co or Van Cleef & Arpels..
