Nicholas Kirkwood’s shoes fit for a Queen

August 2012

Lovers of shoes from all around will now have a truly glamorous way to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee year, courtesy of avant-garde shoe designer Nicholas Kirkwood.

In collaboration with Swarovski, the designer has created a pair of glittering, towering shoes adorned with red and white Swarovski Elements to mark the Queen’s 60th year on the throne. These peep-toes are on display at his Mount Street boutique in London until the end of August, with limited editions available, made to order exclusively from the London store.

Known for innovative use of materials, Kirkwood has experimented with satin, rubberized and laser-cut leather, and hand-printed suede, as well as exotic textures such as python and stingray. His covetable designs have earned him a notable celebrity following, which includes Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Sarah Jessica Parker, Blake Lively, Lily Cole and the Olsen sisters.

Kirkwood is amongst others such as designer Vivienne Westwood, watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre and Harrods, who have also paid homage to the Queen with a special celebratory Diamond Jubilee piece.
