Van Cleef & Arpels - Mastery of an Art Exhibition in Kyoto

May 2017

“Mastery of an Art: Van Cleef & Arpels - High Jewelry and Japanese Crafts” exhibition casts a light on the Maison’s Heritage collection compared to traditional Japanese artwork.

Since the 8th century, Kyoto has been established as a cultural center of Japan, hosting skilled artisans and influencing their timeless artwork.

As Japanese crafts, Van Cleef & Arpels’ creations are masterpieces, and those who create them are known in Japan as Living National Treasures (or more properly, Important Intangible Cultural Properties).

The exhibition offers the opportunity to learn about the craftsmanship both honored in Japan and France.
