Van Cleef & Arpels - New members in The Lucky Animals® collection

January 2020

The Lucky Animals® collection remains faithful to Van Cleef & Arpels’ emblematic aesthetic and savoir-faire, while inaugurating a discrete and elegant style well suited for daily wear. This Year five lively new members are joining the collection.

The animals of Van Cleef & Arpels make up a tender, loving family. These creations of hard, precious stones are part of a long-standing tradition that has been dear to the House since its inception: to convey the beauty and gentleness of nature in motion.

Presenting the hard stones and mother-of-pearl in their best light requires special expertise. Van Cleef & Arpels selects these materials according to the most stringent criteria of quality. Their color must be bright and even, and their veins – for tiger’s eye and malachite – evenly spread across their entire surface. The white mother-of-pearl has been chosen from the rarest varieties – those with regular and cloudless overtones – and the gray mother-of-pearl according to its sheen, which reveals subtle blue or pinkish hues.

The full excellence of the Maison’s craftsmanship can also be seen in the cut of the stones and mother-of-pearl – all the more delicate here due to small dimensions of the pieces. They are polished with extreme care to ensure they produce a gentle and brilliant reflection. Once assembled in marquetry, the different parts of the silhouette are framed with golden beads to provide a precious touch of light.
